Believing in creating a pleasing environment and driven by its commitment to its employees, Advanced Computer Technology (ACT) organized an event for its employees in Nile Hilton Hotel last December 2008.

The event brought together ACT’s employees, in a friendly atmosphere where they communicated with each other.

The event started with a word to Mr.Ashraf Momen – Marketing Sector Director – thanking the employees for coming, to follow with a Presentation by Mr. Mohamed Abou El Leil, Senior Marketing Manager. The Presentation demonstrated ACT’s History, its alliance & Partners, the objectives & Success Stories during 20 years of Experience in ICT Market.

Afterwards Mr. Hasanein Tawfiq, Managing Director, discussed the future plans and development for the coming years and asked all the attendees to expose their concerns &

Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosted "Wikimania 2008" conference from 15-17 July, held for the first time in the Middle East and Africa. "Wikimania" is the annual conference of the famous official encyclopedia "Wikipedia" - the biggest source of free content and information on the Internet.

ACT, pioneers of information technology solutions and integrated communications in Egypt and the Middle East, participated in sponsoring the event with a number of international companies that believe in the role of "Wikipedia" in the enrichment of human thought on the Internet.

The "Wikimania" conference hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is the fourth after three conferences started in the United States of America, Germany and Taiwan. They all have been held annually since. This event has a great international importance with more than 700 academic researchers and specialists, international institutions and international companies, in addition to Wikipedia's board members and its founder Jimmy Wales.

For his part, ACT CEO Hasanien Tawfik expressed his happiness for sponsoring such a big international event for the first time in Africa. "Bibliotheca Alexandria, which is the modern era's beacon of intellect and culture, hosting for this important event demonstrates the attention paid by Egypt and the Egyptian government to the digital revolution, information and communications technology and the Internet, which represents a fertile ground for the development of countries looking for growth rates," said Tawfik.

"The conference is of great international and regional importance, where it is expected to be attended by a large group of users and developers of projects run by Wikipedia," he added.

Tawfik also called for increasing Arab joint cooperation projects to enrich the Arabic content in Wikipedia to preserve the Arab heritage and culture and make it more accessible in the era of digital civilization.

This event brought together people interested in Wikitechnology, free content, educational and social trends in Internet culture. As in previous years, Wikimania 2008 included meetings, symposia and workshops, organized by a group of volunteers.

It is noteworthy that Wikimedia runs a number of the largest electronic reference projects, which is collaboratively edited by users themselves. This includes Wikipeda, which is one of the 10 most visited sites on the Internet. The Encyclopedia was founded in 2003 by Jimmy Wales.

Symantec organized an event last July for ACT's staff to introduce and give them training on Symantec's products and solutions. The event took place at Conrad Hotel, Cairo. The Symantec sales training marked the beginning of a partnership between both companies. Symantec's products include storage, business continuity and security solutions. ACT will use Symantec's products as the official security solutions in their systems and the packages they offer to their clients.

Advanced Computer Technology (ACT) sponsored the 3rd annual conference “EYE2008”(Economy Yields Engineering or Engineering Yields Economy) in faculty of Engineering-Ain Shams University.

This summer, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is hosting the fourth Wikimedia Foundation conference, Wikimania 2008.

Wikimania is considered one of the top open source and IT centered events that take place annually.

ACT contributes to the success of this every by sponsoring its activities from July 17–19, 2008.

Under the auspices of Mohamed Mansour, the Minister of Transportation, the Chamber of Information Technology  and the  Ministry of Transportation jointly organize this seminar to discuss the potential growth for the Transportation sector by using Information Technology Systems.
