ACT won the bid for the mechanization project of the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals and its affiliate companies including: Gomhouria for the trade of medicines, chemicals and medical supplies, SID pharmaceuticals, Memphis Company for Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals, and Nile Company for Pharmaceuticals.
ACT will build a comprehensive information and technology infrastructure that includes communications equipment, computers and link lines between these companies and their subsidiaries with the parent company. ACT will also be in charge of building protection systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and create an electronic gate at a total value of 16 million Egyptian pounds.
 Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals is considered the mainstay of medicine in Egypt, especially of essential drugs as it provides more than 40% of the volume of medicine in Egypt.
"The mechanization process provides Microsoft Axapta applications where an integrated ERP information system is installed. The ERP includes all business, financial, administrative and productivity functions in an integrated manner," says Hasanien Tawfik, ACT CEO.  "It also includes applications such as financial, banking and inventory software. It is an integrated information system including all operations within industrial companies, which begins at the market and ends there."
The system aims to achieve a balance between a high level of customer service while achieving higher productivity and lower cost of operation through higher speed of delivery with the required quality and lowest possible cost. Mechanization process also includes the processing of corporate communications network linking all the companies together and with the parent company while maintaining the confidentiality of information.
The bid is part of the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals plan to develop and modernize its satellite companies to keep pace with global developments in the pharmaceutical industry, which helps on improving the investment climate through the availability of databases of the different sectors within the pharmaceutical industry. It also helps with the restructuring of corporate information systems available. The project aims at creating an electronic distinct presence of the Holding Company on the Internet that provides a range of information and services in a simplified, organized and a user-friendly form for Egyptian, Arab and foreign users.
The project is the second of its kind to be implemented by ACT in the pharmaceutical industry. The first was the mechanization of Gomhouria Pharmaceuticals Company.
